ASV Regional Coalitions

The Association of Shelter Veterinarians recognizes the desire and need for collaborative spaces for veterinarians engaged in shelter and community animal care to engage in beneficial discussions and to build community. In an effort to facilitate these spaces, we have developed 11 Regional Coalitions. The goal of these coalitions is to build strong local communities that connect, support, and inspire members in meaningful ways. The following regional groups were identified based on membership demographics: 

  • New England: CT, ME, MA, NH, RI, VT
  • Middle Atlantic: NJ, NY, PA
  • East North Central: IL, IN, MI, OH, WI
  • West North Central: IA, KS, MN, MO, NE, ND, SD
  • South Atlantic: DE, GA, MD, NC, VA, DC, WV
  • East South Central: AL, KY, MS, TN
  • West South Central: AR, LA, OK, TX
  • Mountain: AZ, CO, ID, MT, NV, NM, UT, WY
  • Pacific: AK, HI, OR, WA
  • California
  • Florida

Regional coalition discussions are open to ASV members and any veterinarians who are interested in animal welfare and community health. Upcoming discussions are listed below and can be found on the homepage calendar for the ASV website.

 

 Mountain Coalition (AZ, CO, ID, MT, NV, NM, UT, WY)

  • Wednesday, January 7 at 6:00pm Pacific, 7:00pm Mountain

The topic for this meeting will be neonatal vaccinations. A great interactive discussion is expected!

West North Central Coalition (IA, KS, MN, MO, NE, ND, SD)

  • Topic: Gearing up for Kitten Season: What is one thing your shelter is doing to improve on last year’s kitten practices?
  • Led by Drs. Jennifer Bennett, Crystal Heath, Carissa Jones, and Bridgid Twomey

This coalition plans to meet on the 1st Monday of each month.
